Is it legal to ask record companies for CDs for a radio show without going through your station music manager?

Question by Maphuti M: Is it legal to ask record companies for CDs for a radio show without going through your station music manager?
I’m music Dj and I have a gospel show. Our station doesn’t have gospel music so I play from my own. Is it legally acceptable if i personally contact local record companies and ask them to send me some of their artist’s albums??? Help?

A request is never illegal unless blackmail is involved. If it is illegal to supply something then the onus is on the person supplying the item. Record companies have extremely good legal departments so their supply of items is well regulated. Make your request.
