Why can Amazon.com and Rhapsody sell DRM-free music, but they are trying to end their contracts with Apple?

Why would they make a five dollar a month service (Total Music) for any mp3 player except the iPod?

First off, its not the record compaines…
2nd, its apple trying to rip off their customers.
3rd, apple wants to keep it isolated, therefore, they can earn more money from music, videos, players and etc.
4th, apple fels that if the music is only compatible with ipods, previous owners will not want to buy more music since they already have, and switch players, therefore they buy another ipod.

just my two cents…
