I have a verbal contract with a record label, but I want to leave as nothing has been done at all. I was asked to record an album, deliver this by february. Since then, it has been delayed and delayed (without reason) and is still not available or been given an actual release date. I was given a May release date, which has passed. All mixes have been changed, edited, tracks have been changed, artwork has been changed, even fonts. I can understand this can be the case, but now, it has come to a situation where I cannot release anything, songs are not allowed to be used on films and such and I have had to spurn offers from other labels. Surely, it is a breach of contract on their part, that this has not been released, nearly a year on? Where do I stand legally? Could I re record all of the tracks and re release them myself?

Can I add that I wrote and performed everything on the tracks. They have made edits of the tracks themselves, using my masters, do they only oen them mixes?

You need to talk to a lawyer.

If you paid them money, it could be just a scam.
