How much should I charge for all of these editing and directing projects? More details below.?

Question by a00rlc: How much should I charge for all of these editing and directing projects? More details below.?
I recently was contracted to edit an indie film for a low budget production company. They’re pretty much just starting up. I agreed to do this gig for a certain price and now they’re asking me to edit three music videos and to direct one of those three. On top of this, the producer is asking specifically for him and his family to edit a wedding and a family reunion video for him, both of which would probably be 60-90 minutes long each. The movie I’m working on is a 90 minute film. My confusion is that I know I took the movie gig at a low low price but my estimates put their next bill at significantly higher than the movie because I know how much time and energy it would take me. I’m way underpaid on this film and I don’t want to be underpaid on these next projects. Is there any actual suggestions out there or do I just have to try to estimate my time (which I find challenging because projects can vary so much) and then just submit the bid and see what happens?

Just explain to them that you low-balled the movie gig to get the job as well as to be part of the big picture. Thank them for their involving you. At that point, inform them that you want to continue to earn their business, but it’s just that. BUSINESS. So, you will be charging an industry standard price. Embarrass them into believing they would be foolish to balk at the bid.
