“When the Sun Comes Out” from My Name is Barbra

In 1964, up-and-coming star Barbra Streisand signed a contract with CBS to film five television specials by 1975. “My Name is Barbra” is the glorious first of these, filmed in nostalgic black-and-white. Enjoy these glimpses of her genial work. “When the Sun Comes Out”, circa 1941, is a popular jazz standard composed by Harold Arlen, with lyrics by Ted Koehler. It was first introduced in 1941 by Helen O’Connell with the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra. This is my personal favorite rendition of this song.
