Q&A: How can I make a legal contract/agreement myself?

Question by Adam: How can I make a legal contract/agreement myself?
From what I know, a contract or agreement is legal as long as both parties agree to terms and conditions verbally or written. If that’s the case, why do professional contracts include strange words such as: Witnesseth, Whereas, Hereto…etc..? Are these words necessary in a written contract? If I were to make a simple agreement for me and a friend (over a matter of $ 500-$ 1000) and we both agreed and signed, would that hold up in court?

Without the formal language and the legaleese. it’s less enforcable, with more room for one party or another to wiggle out.

It might; or might not.
