We are hiring a musician who will play at our wedding. He doesn’t do this professionally, but is more of a friend of my mother’s. He doesn’t have any contracts, but being the bride that I am…I’d like more than just his word.

Can anyone lead me to any sample/template contracts for weddings that I could use for musicians? Or else please give me your input on what should be included in the contract? I don’t want to forget something and then it biting me in the butt afterwards.

I don’t have a template but you need to include the time that he will arrive, the time he will play for and the time that he will leave. You should also include what equipment he will bring and what you will provide for him. Include the deposit amount and what the final pay will be if you are paying him. Lastly, include something about what will happen if he should not be able to deliver the services contracted for any reason or if you should have to change or cancel the event. The contract should not only cover you but be a clear guideline for him.
