The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance was delighted to welcome Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser, to host a metal guitar clinic as part in the Metal Hammer Weekender! Andreas was born in Brazil in 1968 and started playing acoustic guitar in 1981, learning the basic chords with popular Brazilian music. He later discovered Kiss and Queen, and that changed his life. In his early years Andreas was hugely influenced by Ozzy, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Twisted Sister, Whitesnake, Venom and Metallica. He learnt a lot from all those guitarists, plus bands like Pink Floyd and Yes and guitarists such as Eric Clapton, John Williams, Romero Brothers, Leo Brower, Baden Powell, Villa Lobos, etc. Andreas joined Sepultura in 1987 after meeting the band on a holiday, he recorded his first album, called Schizophrenia the same year. With that album Sepultura got a contract to release the next record worldwide. Andreas is currently working with Sepultura, touring all over the world. He is also working on his first solo album, due for release shortly after this masterclass.
