What do we think of McCain’s GOP cohort Ted Steven’s indictment for pork barrel corruption?

Question by Natalie Z: What do we think of McCain’s GOP cohort Ted Steven’s indictment for pork barrel corruption?

Ted Stevens is our longest serving Republican Senator and a man whom McCain has praised for his “integrity”.

Stevens was indicted today on 7 corruption related counts. He’s been nabbed for accepting bribes and awarding government contracts paid for with millions in pork barrel spending.

This is the same man who claims to be AGAINST pork barrel spending, yet slipped a clause into the 2005 Transportation Equity Act to spend hundred of millions on a useless bridge to nowhere named after himself and his buddy. He then threatened to quit Congress after it was proposed that the funds instead go to rebuild roads and infrastructure destroyed by Hurricane Katrina!

Is this yet another example of Republican hypocrisy at it’s finest?

PS- Republican Alaska has won the record for most pork barrel spending every year since 2000. And the large majority of 2008’s $ 17.2 billion in pork barrel spending went to REPUBLICAN STATES.
