How can we convince online music sellers to sell to Asia?
Question by Katrina: How can we convince online music sellers to sell to Asia?
This probably isn’t the best description, but it’s a common outlook: they say they won’t sell downloads to us because we pirate. And we pirate because they won’t sell to us. I live in SEA, and it’s very frustrating when I want to legally buy music that can’t be found in local stores. People like me have to look for “other” sources of music.
One reason I thought of is that the price of a song on iTunes is pretty hefty in local currencies, but if sellers adjust, they think they’ll lose out. But aren’t they already losing out on a huge market?

What a conundrum. I understand this predicament as I have resided in SEA before and have had trouble obtaining certain software locally.
This is one of those issues where awareness needs to be brought to light through suggestions and comments via various online channels.

Unfortunately, this issue of making online music more accessible to this region will not materialize until the big music distributors do their research and realize (or rather, conclude) that there is a HUGE market, with a rising economy (hence more consumers) that is more than willing to pay a reasonable price to download quality music. I’m sure they are looking into it though.
What part of Southeast Asia are you from? I understand that Samsung is attempting to fill some of the online music void in parts of SEA to accommodate consumers of their MP3 players.
