Question by Killswitch… ENGAGE!!!: What is required for a job in the music industry?
I’m not sure if I want to work in the music industry yet, but if I do what should I do to get prepared for it (e.g. college major / minor). Also what area of the industry would be most suitable for me: I’m strong in every subject but love English, Art, and Music. I’m really good at math. I’m only going to be a sophomore in high school, but I’m thinking maybe a sound engineer or producer. What skills would it take to be a producer? (I want to work with metal bands specifically).

Not too much is required in the music industry but talent! The only skills you need to be a producer are knowing how to make music and have a creative mind! Start by having a computer music machine in your desktop and you can practice making music that way. Or if you play in instrument start writing songs.
