Starting a Songwriting Career?
Question by Dan: Starting a Songwriting Career?
Basically, I intend to start my music career by writing songs for other people, so far I’ve built up a collection of about 12 songs (Placing them on a myspace page) and have tried this:
I’ve rung management companies asking if they would consider being my manager, publishing companies asking if they might consider a publishing deal with me and record labels asking if they might consider using my songs for any of their artists, a good amount of them gave me permission to send demos, which I did a while ago, now for most of them I’m still waiting to hear back.
So basically, I want to know, what else can I do? I’m not the intended performer so don’t say: “Do loads of gigs and let them come to you” because that doesn’t apply here. I just need to know what else can a songwriter do to get his songs used by artists and start his career.
You may find some of the songs I’ve written for other people to use here:

If you haven’t heard back from the people you have submitted demos to, doesn’t that tell you something. Rather like going for a job interview but then never hearing from the company again.
