Daimler Ferret five speed epicyclic gearbox

Daimler Ferret gearbox exposed – after removing commander’s seat, radios, radio tray mounts, sheetmetal work and gearbox cover plate.

Why?

Because first gear wasn’t engaging. As you can see, although the selector (nearest the camera has contacted the brake band pad the band isn’t contracted. The self adjust mechanism hasn’t worked. So I "tweaked" it manually prior to taking the Ferret to Bordon for a day in the rough. Time will tell whether I’ve been successful

Martin retires as EVWD GM
