Yes, I realize I’ll be missing out on a lot of cool functionality. However, I want to use it as portable media player (pics, video, music) instead of mobile internet device. I think I can connect via WiFi to activate the phone. Will T-Mobile sell me the phone on at the discounted price on contract but w/out a data plan? Yes, I know they’ll sell it to me at full price w/out contract.

no with tmobile you must purchase the internet plan with the g1..ive tried doing that..but the rep said impossible
